Malcolm Charlton has 30 years of experience as a lawyer.

Malcolm holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Certificate in Migration Law and Practice from the Australian National University (ANU).

He previously practiced as a Senior Legal Officer with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) dealing with various aspects of Federal Criminal Law and brings that knowledge and experience to practice as a Defence Criminal Lawyer.

He deals with a wide range of matters in his Immigration law practice and is aware of the need to be abreast of the constantly changing immigration laws.

He is aware of the need for meticulousness in taking factual instructions to ensure that all available options are explained to immigration clients and handles their problems with both sensitivity and compassion.

His long experience as a senior lawyer has made him acutely aware of the need to ensure all applications and submissions are meticulously prepared in a timely manner to enable the best possible outcome with clients at all times being kept abreast of the progress of their matter.

Earlier in Malcolm’s career he was the sole in house lawyer for the Australian Medical Association (AMA) advising both the Association and its doctor members followed by medical defence work with Blake Dawson Waldron.

He was subsequently named as Australia’s top ranking Plaintiff Medical Negligence Lawyer (based on legal profession peer review) in the 1999 publication of “Legal Profiles”.
